Overview
During the most recent drought in Cape Town, 2017 – 2019, Consol Glass (Ardagh Group) made efforts to improve their water security by procuring a 360 m3/day demineralization plant to produce water for most of their onsite requirements. The plant was supplied by two onsite boreholes that produced hard water. However, after commissioning, the Demin plant operated sub-optimally resulting in mothballing of the plant.
Maoko was appointed to do a condition assessment and troubleshooting exercise on the plant to determine the requisite corrective action. This was successfully concluded and presented to the client to inform the client’s efforts towards building water resilience.
